General Questions
What is Sound Healing?
Sound healing is the intentional use of vibration, frequency, sound and silence to support relaxation, nervous system regulation, self-awareness and wellbeing.
Within our Sound of Being™ methodology, sound is woven together with breathwork, meditation, presence and intention to create a deeply supportive and immersive experience.
If you would like to learn more about the foundations of sound healing and our approach, we invite you to visit our About Sound Healing page.
What is Sound of Being™?
Sound of Being™ is the signature methodology developed by Sound Healing Australia™.
Rather than focusing solely on instruments, Sound of Being™ integrates sound, breath, meditation, nervous system awareness, energetic principles and conscious facilitation to create meaningful experiences that support connection, healing and transformation.
Do I need any experience to attend?
Not at all.
Whether you are completely new to sound healing or have been exploring personal growth and wellbeing practices for many years, our sessions, events and trainings are designed to meet you where you are.
I can't meditate. Will I still benefit?
Absolutely.
Many people who struggle with traditional meditation find sound-based practices more accessible.
The sound provides an anchor for the mind, helping the body and nervous system settle naturally without needing to force stillness or concentration.
I'm worried this might be too spiritual or "woo-woo" for me. Do you adjust your language and approach?
Yes.
We meet people where they are.
Some people attend our offerings because they are interested in meditation, personal growth or spirituality.
Others attend because they are feeling stressed, burnt out, overwhelmed or simply curious.
There is no expectation that you believe in anything or subscribe to any particular philosophy.
Whether we are working with an individual, a corporate team, a school, a healthcare setting or a retreat group, we adjust our language and approach to suit the people we are supporting.
At its core, our work is about creating spaces where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves and experience greater wellbeing
What if I don't feel anything during a session?
Every experience is different.
Some people notice profound shifts immediately, while others simply experience a deep sense of rest and relaxation. Sometimes the most meaningful changes emerge gradually over the days and weeks following a session.
There is no right or wrong experience
Can sound healing bring up emotions?
It can.
As the body relaxes and the nervous system begins to settle, emotions that have been held beneath the surface may sometimes arise.
Our facilitators are trained to hold these experiences with care, compassion and respect.

Some people attend once, while others choose ongoing support as part of their wellbeing journey

Events & Sound Journeys
What happens during a Sound of Being™ event?
Each event is unique, however most experiences include guided meditation, breathwork, mindfulness practices and an immersive live sound journey using instruments from around the world.
The intention is to create a supportive environment where participants can rest, reconnect and explore deeper states of awareness.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing anything that supports your comfort, such as:
- Yoga mat
- Blanket
- Cushion or bolster
- Scarf or eye pillow
- Water bottle
You may also like to bring a journal, as many participants find that reflections, insights or moments of clarity arise during the experience that they wish to capture afterwards.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that allows you to relax and move freely.
Layers are also recommended, as body temperature can fluctuate during periods of deep relaxation.
What if I become emotional during the session?
All emotions are welcome.
Our events are designed to create a safe and supportive environment where people can simply experience whatever is present for them.
Can I attend if I am pregnant?
In many cases, yes.
However, we recommend contacting us prior to attending so we can provide guidance regarding the most appropriate setup and positioning for your comfort and wellbeing.
Are there any contraindications?
If you are pregnant, have epilepsy, significant sound sensitivities, severe mental health concerns, or any medical condition that may require additional support, please contact us before attending so we can discuss the best approach.
How often do I need to do sound healing to receive the benefits?
From experiencing a single session, you can begin to receive some of the benefits. However, the more you experience sound and its healing capabilities, the more equilibrium your body will come into.
Depending on your intention, physical/emotional/mental goals and what you wish to achieve through your sessions can dictate the duration or how long you should continue to see a sound therapist. Physical changes and emotional shifts can be experienced almost instantly for some. For others this could be a slower process. For more acute/severe injuries/illnesses/intentions you may require more sessions.
Understanding the body is a complex network derived of emotions, physical pulses and movements, memories and traumas. We work from a place of allowing the vibrational energy to stimulate the cells; bringing healing to the core of the original imbalance. We offer packages to extend discounts for those wishing to use sound healing as a restorative therapy.
